Viruses are a thing of the past, at least if you are as diligent as I in not downloading executional files from questionable websites.

However, the internet has evolved, and now the aim is not to destroy your computer, but to constantly track and monitor your online behavior, to show you the relevant pop-ups, and to entice you enough to click on them (clicks = $$$).
